Entries are display most recent first.

Please note - due to a recent "hacking" incident -
entries between August 2008 and December 2011 were lost.
Unfortunately- every effort to recover the lost entries was unsuccessful
as even the backup files were corrupted beyond repair. Fortunately an off-site
backup of the earlier entries was available and is here. We regret this loss.

J.K. Harwood

Tender:

USS LY Spear AS-36

Comments:

I served in the navy from May 75 to Sept 82. I was stationed on the U.S.S. L.Y. Spear (AS-36) from 80 to 82. I was flown to Diego Garcia, and boarded the ship there. I served as Radiologic Technologist / Nurse / Radcon under decks. I would love to hear from anyone who was there at the same time. My favorite fast attack was the Kittywait. Hope to hear from old friends soon.

Name:

Grant Youngman

Tender:

Comments:

I was stationed aboard USS Queenfish (SSN-651) during the early part of your tour. While waiting for Sub School to start in New London, I spent two months on board a tender in Norfolk. I was the Supply Officer on Queenfish, and remember that SINS gyros were always the hot item just prior to a patrol -- along with garbage weights -). Garbage weights always seemed harder to get, too -) Grant

Name:

Robert Kapaska

USS Canopus AS-9

Comments:

My Father-In-Law Rogger E. Tiefenbach, who is 88 (in 2006), was assigned to the USS Canopus AS 9 when they scuttled her in 1942 and was subsequently Captured on Corrigedor. He was a Prisoner of War until the end of the War. He recorded what happened to him by engraving on his Mess Kit bowl All the significant events that occurred to him while in captivity-A Fascinating story! If you have any information about the USS Canopus AS-9 or other contacts I would appreciate an email. Thank You....... Robert Kapaska and Rogger E. Tiefenbach
